When Matt was preparing to be sworn into office in 2022,
he posted a list of principles that he said would guide his service on the board.
He has made other statements during his term that further reflect his principles as a leader.
This includes statements that reveal his religious outlook, including this statement which he gave at his church on January 15, 2023.
In the United States of America, we have a Constitutionally-guaranteed freedom of religion.
So, shouldn't a member of the School Board strive to keep their religious views out of our classrooms?
Read Matt's BUDGET MANIFESTO again.
Don't his positions there sound like he's trying to impose his religious views upon our students?
For that matter, Matt also said something about "political agendas":
Don't we deserve School Board members who will at least try to work in a nonpartisan fashion?
Shouldn't we reject a School Board candidate who openly touts their party affiliation and ideology?
Again, Matt has often spoken about the importance of the District's BUDGET,
saying that he feels a responsibility to fund our schools:
Is Matt helping to fund our schools when he has voted against the budget in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025?
Let's look at one more vote. In 2022, the Board voted 5-1 to transform Franklin Elementary School in Anoka, bringing special education students into a District-owned facility and out of rentals.
Guess who voted against it?
He claims to have voted against it because of his opposition to Equity programming and Social Emotional Learning.
What does that have to do with funding the special education programs at Bridges and Pathways?
Here's Matt's post about that vote.
Finally,
Here's Matt's post from January 7, 2022 about his guiding principles:
Are these the principles of someone truly supporting ALL of our students, families, and staff in Anoka-Hennepin?
